Later he got his start as an actor by having a small role in the TV film ‘The Substitute’, which in turn led to him eventually becoming one of the top stars in Hollywood.

So what are some of the best Mark Wahlberg movies? Check out our list below:

Four Brothers:

Happy Birthday Mark Wahlberg : Remembering His Best Movies

‘Four Brothers’ is for many, their favorite Mark Wahlberg movie. The film circles around four fostered brothers who seek answers for their mothers death that they believe is more than just a random killing. Besides Marky Mark himself, the movie stars Tyrese Gibson, Andre 3000, Terrence Howard and Garrett Hedlund. Mark Wahlberg plays the leader of the brothers as his character “Bobby” breaks skulls, and crushes bad guys until he gets answers ( typical Mark Wahlberg character ) .

TED:

In one of Mark Wahlberg’s not so typical roles, Mark plays a man whose teddy bear ( he grew up with ) comes to life under some magical circumstances. The two best friends party together, enjoy some of TED’s fame and get into some trouble along the way.  While the movie premise sounds quite absurd , this R rated comedy broke several records in the box office and made many people laugh their ass off at a stuffed animal and his best friend from childhood. The film was directed by Seth McFarland , so if you get a laugh from ‘Family Guy’ this movie is absolutely for you.

Shooter:

Back to some of Mark Wahlberg’s more typical roles, Marky Mark plays a expert Marine sniper who is framed for the murder of a Ethiopian archbishop.  His character is also named “Bobby” in this movie and this may actually be one of Mark Wahlberg’s most “bad-ass” movies ever ( besides Lone Survivor ). While the movie did not do well with critics, many fans still loved it’s story and action sequences as it carries a bad-ass vibe you won’t forget .

The Departed:

In perhaps the most well-praised movie on the list, ‘The Departed’ stars an all star cast as it has Martin Sheen, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson,  Alec Baldwin and our topic of the day’s Mark Wahlberg. Marky Mark plays a hot-headed , and un-intentionaly hilarious police Sergeant, by the name of Sean Dignam. Mark Wahlberg’s character brings hostility to the role as well as some dark comic relief . The Departed is a twisty, shocking crime drama that you will want to watch until the very end.

A Couple VERY Honorable Mentions:

Three Kings, The Italian Job, Lone Survivor, The Fighter, The Other Guys, Pain & Gain. ( Let me know if I missed one )

More to come:

As you see from the list, Mark Wahlberg is always in some upcoming movie. Check out his latest film ‘Deepwater Horizon’ :
