According to a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times it appears Bryan Singer wants a break from the X-Men movies.
Bryan Singer, who is the main director behind the majority of the X-Men movies, has stated that he would eventually like to do something very different from the X-Men movies that he has been so consistently involved in.
X-Men: Apocalypse which was his most recently directed X-Men film, was received very mixed and somewhat poorly from fans and critics. Perhaps a break from the franchise is exactly what the X-Men movies in general need?
Bryan Singer recently told The LA Times ,
“I recently met Danny Boyle — he and I have known of each other for many years but never met. He was prepping “Steve Jobs” at the time and I was doing this and he said, “Are you going to be doing ‘X-Men’ movies forever?” And I didn’t actually say no.
“The reality is, even though I’m very desperate to jump to something completely different, I’ve spent so many years in this universe and I love this cast and the characters so much, I just don’t see myself abandoning them forever. Perhaps as a consultant, as a producer, even as a director, I could see myself returning in the future. Just right now, once this one is done, I’d like to do something really different.”
It seems as if Bryan Singer may always be a part of the X-Men movies, however it appears a new director might be in the works for the future X-Men movies that have at least been rumored to release in the next couple of years.
Would you like to see Bryan Singer take a break from the X-Men movies? What director would you like to see take over from Bryan Singer?
