Has a Black Widow solo film been confirmed? Recent reports suggest yes.
There has always been buzz about the likelihood of a Black Widow solo film starring Scarlett Johansson. Ever since the characters debut in Iron Man 2 , fans have wanted more of the Avengers agent and have mostly gotten their wish as Natasha Romanoff has appeared in almost every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to date.
Specifically in Captain America: The Winter Soldier fans could see that Black Widow ( Natasha Romanoff ) could handle her own as she practically starred in the movie herself.
As of the past two weeks, recent news has been generated about the possibility of a Black Widow solo film after Fandango ran a poll for USA Today, which showed that fans wanted to see her star in her own Marvel film.
Due to this, those in charge of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies ( such as Kevin Feige ), have been asked countless questions about the possibility of Scarlett Johansson getting a chance to lead her own Black Widow movie.
According to an interview with Deadline, Kevin Feige was asked about the possibility of solo films with some of the major supporting characters in the MCU and followed with the statement,
“We’ve announced the next nine movies, ten counting Civil War, through the end of 2019. Where we go beyond that are ongoing discussions that we’ll focus on in the next few years because we have a lot to do before then. Of the characters that you’ve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow.”
While this sounds like Scarlett Johansson will be a couple years older by the time this film actually comes out, this is the closest fans have ever heard from Marvel about the possibility of this highly wanted Black Widow movie happening.
What type of storyline and/or supporting characters would you like to see in a Black Widow standalone movie ?
